About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor (known as Cost Manager on contract) to join our Water business unit to work in Peterborough with our client Anglian Water.
Role Purpose :
As a Quantity surveyor you will be working as part of an integrated and collaborative delivery team. Accountable to the Project Commercial Manager for the cost management of a project or programme of projects from inception through to close out.
You will be :
Ensuring that all operations are carried out to control costs, maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety;
whilst also ensuring that maximum efficiencies are obtained and full compliance with the Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures are achieved;
Responsible for carrying out accurate live forecasting taking into account the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective WBS / CBS;
Ensuring actual costs are monitored & assessed against baseline, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations, reporting either weekly or otherwise as agreed with the PCM whilst observing Alliance governance;
Providing reports on actual costs versus estimate, identifying underlying reasons for any variance resolutions, in particular highlight, challenge & resolve variance to latest plans;
Working closely with the site Team, attending site where appropriate, to ensure change is captured;
Providing an estimating service / or assist the programme area estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align to scope and make allowance for all risks and opportunities including any necessary analysis, transfer of data to CCMS -the Cost Base.
You will have :
A contracting background;
Sub contract management and procurement experience;
Infrastructure experience (preferred).
