As a Support Worker you will be working with colleagues to assist in the rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injuries in the community of Elmstead Market and Alresford, with additional support coming from a range of professionals within Brain Injury Services.

One aspect of your role will be key-working - supporting a nominated resident on a weekly basis in the planning of activities and menus, ensuring they have sufficient finances, and addressing any queries or concerns that they might raise.

You will follow the supervision and guidance of a Senior Support Worker, as well as the Registered Home Manager. Our Rehabilitation Support Worker role involves :

  • An awareness of, and commitment to, the promotion of residents’ rights and responsibilities, anti-discriminatory practice, equality and diversity.
  • A recognition and awareness of strategies for dealing with the conflicts and dilemmas arising from human rights and legislative responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates engagement with the resident group.
  • An awareness of the need for a consistent approach to resident care.
  • Recognises the importance of maintaining relationships with resident’s family, other disciplines, and agencies.
  • Recognises the need for effective communication including record keeping.
  • Demonstrates engagement with the resident group.

  • Demonstrates competence in the role of liaison.

  • Recognises their potential contribution to a range of activities of daily living including basic care, social and recreational activity, and health promotion.
  • Takes a positive approach to the management of challenging behaviour.
  • Recognises the value of care and management plans and their own responsibilities to work within these plans.
  • To engage in supervision and complete regulatory and compliance training
  • To promote independence and encourage resident involvement in their rehabilitation through effective communication and engagement.
