Data Science and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) are critical to TUI’s future growth. We are planning to deliver a step change in the benefits realised from these capabilities both in our commercial decision making across the Group.

TUI is embarking on a large scale Group-wide analytics data project capturing raw data across all source markets to feed a cloud based data lake and commercial data warehouse.

We will capture and integrate data from contracting, inventory, profitability and booking systems and other external data and this will be used to create reports, dashboards, analytical models and provide input to advanced yield management techniques including artificial intelligence and machine learning.

We require an experienced Data Governance Analyst who will join us as we embark on this exciting journey and will ensure that our data and margin calculations are accurate, up to date and understood across a large and diverse user base.

This is a new role on a greenfield AWS S3 and Redshift role out and offers an exciting opportunity to start early on the project and help shape the outcome.

Data Management : You will understand the data from all of our source markets and how it is used and be responsible for the integrity of our data end to end.

You will be required to advise on the approach and use your influencing skills to ensure that this approach is followed across the Group commercial data systems to ensure that as a company we have strong data integrity.

In addition to this, you will need to ensure that any key data issues that are identified are addressed and therefore a key part of this role is working with our source market SMEs and Group data teams to prioritise remedies and solutions.

You will be responsible for :

  • Data dictionary definition and ongoing maintenance
  • Understanding and creating data governance policies
  • Data quality management
  • Data lineage
  • Reference and master data management
  • Margin comparability standards : You will be responsible for ensuring that the margin comparability standards and calculations are properly defined and ensure they are up to date and accurate and highlight any issues that need to be resolved and work with the relevant teams to ensure that they are resolved in a timely manner, providing solutions as appropriate

    Stakeholder Management : You will be responsible for influencing stakeholders across our source markets as well as key functions with the TUI Group whilst also working closely with IT data engineering and our business teams.

    In order for you to be successful in this role, you will have strong business wide relationships across geographical locations which are built on mutual trust and credibility.

    Therefore, there will be an element of travel within this role.

    Compliance : You will be familiar with data legislation across our source markets and will actively work closely with the risk and security teams to ensure our data is compliant, controlled and secure.

    You will be able to identify and articulate any business risks and issues in this regards and escalate as appropriate, again providing solutions as appropriate.

    Metrics Framework : You will be responsible for creating a measurement and metrics framework to ensure consistency, quality and accuracy of our data.

    You will need to implement systems for feedback and resolution.

  • Extensive practical experience of data governance
  • An ability to understand complex data transformations and data processes
  • Experience using SQL to identify data issues
  • Experience using the latest business intelligence tools to build data quality dashboards and issue discovery solutions
  • Highly numerate with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills, adept at managing a wide range of stakeholders and the ability to demonstrate when a good job has been done
