Following substantial growth of our business, we are expanding our finance team for the UK and Ireland. This is a new position in our team for an experienced tax expert to work closely with our Head of Finance, advise senior business leaders and collaborate with colleagues internationally.
You will have knowledge of tax regulations and tax management for large companies as well as experience in dealing with HMRC and external advisors auditors within a large, matrix based organisation.
This position is based at our site in Royston.
What you will accomplish together with us :
Interpreting and analysing tax laws and regulations and prepare technical reports on impact on the organisation's operations
Strategic tax planning for the region including annual tax strategy paper and maintaining the tax risk register
Responsibility for the readiness for the Senior Accounting Officer regime and then the ongoing compliance and certification
Facilitating and managing the accurate and timely filing of all required returns and payments to HMRC
Developing and maintaining effective controls and procedures over all aspects of the tax process by working with various stakeholders
Working with the Group tax department to ensure alignment of approach for all tax matters and key initiatives
Managing the relationships with HMRC, external tax advisors and internal external auditors to enable timely address of issues and audit completion
Providing coaching and mentoring to the UK Finance team and as required to the wider organisation
What will convince us :
Qualified tax professional or a Qualified Accountant with specialisation in tax
Strong previous experience in tax matters
Comfortable working independently with a low level of supervision
Commercially aware and able to build relationships with stakeholders across the business
Strong project management skills
Up to date working knowledge of tax legislation
Strong communication skills
Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to work to deadlines
Able to drive objectives to completion
Adopting a problem-solving approach to queries and issues raised
Willingness to challenge others and to suggest improvements to existing systems and processes
