Flatiron’s mission is to improve lives by learning from the experience of every cancer patient. We established our first international office this year (in London) and are looking for highly-skilled, experienced engineers to join our founding technical team.

If you’re interested in joining a small, fast-paced team focused on improving outcomes for patients, here’s what you need to know about the role, our team and why Flatiron Health UK is the right next step in your career.

What You'll Do

Learning from the experience of every cancer patient involves exploring available data sources, and building robust data pipelines and systems that scale.

We welcome full-stack engineers, aspiring architects, passionate backend engineers, data scientists, engineers that are enthusiastic about data, and emerging engineering leaders.

As an engineer you will :

  • Be part of creating a new team and building company culture in a new office
  • Devise creative solutions to solve tough business challenges
  • Rapidly iterate on products early in the development of product-market fit
  • Promote technical best practices with teammates and customers
  • Work with complex data pipelines using a variety of data processing tools
  • Bring or develop a deep knowledge of healthcare in the UK, including data sources, sector-wide requirements, and emerging trends
  • Work day-to-day with oncologists, product leaders, quantitative scientists and customers to understand their challenges and how technology can help solve them
  • Who You Are

You're an experienced software / data engineer with 5+ years of experience developing robust and scalable solutions. You're passionate about solving real-world problems with modern technologies and building elegant, scalable systems.

You write simple, sophisticated, well-structured and well tested code that drives new features and improvements.

  • You hold a bachelors, masters, and / or Ph.D. in computer science or a related field
  • You have worked in a collaborative agile development environment using programming languages like Python, C++, SQL, Java and R, but are also a quick learner who can easily pick up new programming languages as needed
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity - you’re able to quickly develop hypotheses with limited information and have a demonstrated ability to learn complex concepts quickly
  • You are excited to work in a startup environment and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. You have an entrepreneurial spirit, get it done mentality, a nose for value and empathy for your customer
  • You are an effective communicator who is equally comfortable telling a compelling story to stakeholders, clinicians, engineers and customers
  • You care more about our customers and advancing cancer treatment than you do about dealing with the newest data processing techniques
  • You're excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves and using technology to tackle meaningful problems each and every day.

You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who seeks and gives honest feedback and values the opportunity to improve the lives of cancer patients.

If this sounds like you, you'll fit right in at Flatiron.

Why You Should Join Our Team
