We are looking for SQA / Supplier Quality Engineer's to join our rapidly growing team. We have openings across all functions including Body, Chassis, Powertrain and Electrical.

This role will be split between our new offices in Reading (2-3 days per week), remote working and visiting supplier sites.

Founded in 2019, Volta Trucks is a fast-growing clean mobility start-up focusing on developing full-electric commercial vehicle solutions for tomorrow's cities.

Through product and business model innovations, the company's ambition is to bring to market the most sustainable and safest truck.

The Volta Zero is the company's first product and features an innovative driver-centric cabin design, the latest driver assistance and connectivity technologies to improve the driver's experience and protect pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.

The first prototype Volta Zero was launched in September 2020, with the first pre-production vehicles due to start evaluation with customers in 2021 ahead of the start of series production in 2022.

What you will do :

Reporting to the SQA Manager you will work very closely with our suppliers and play a crucial role in the development and continual improvement of our supply chain related procedures and processes.

You will be responsible for assessing the supply base and ensuring suppliers' parts and products meet quality standards and any potential concerns are resolved.

  • Carry out supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP)
  • Work with engineering (Design & Manufacturing Engineers) to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective
  • Assist in the supplier approval process by assessing quality systems, manufacturing / technology capabilities and Health & Safety risks
  • Assist in new product launches and ensure supplier parts meets specifications and standards
  • Actively promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as lean, six-sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error proofing), measurement system analysis and PFMEA
  • Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvements within the supply chain
  • We would like you to have :

  • Bachelor's degree or similar, preferably within Engineering
  • 3+ years' experience within supply chain / quality engineering
  • Experience and knowledge of supplier assessments, audits, problem solving, APQP, FMEA, 8D, 6 Sigma and automotive standards
  • Knowledge and experience within automotive manufacturing- high and low volume
  • Understanding of key cost drivers in manufacturing
  • Ability to work at a fast paced and be able to travel to supplier sites regularly
