LGBT Health and Wellbeing promotes the health, wellbeing, and equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)* adults in Scotland.
It provides support, services, and information to improve mental and emotional wellbeing, reduce social isolation and promote community inclusion.
LGBT Health’s strategic objectives, as outlined in the Strategic Plan, are to :
As well as providing support programmes for LGBT people, the organisation directly contributes its expertise on LGBT issues to a wide range of individuals and organisations.
It is increasingly recognised as a go to’ organisation about LGBT issues, especially around older LGBT people, trans wellbeing, mental health and more recently LGBT asylum seekers and refugees.
The charity works tirelessly to raise awareness of the lived experiences, needs, barriers and inequalities LGBT adults experience, by providing a strong, informed, and credible voice for the interests of LGBT people.
The LGBT Health and Wellbeing Board of Trustees is made up of a range of individuals from across the community who bring wide perspectives from different sectors of Scottish life.
The Board are currently recruiting look for a Treasurer and a Trustee with people management / HR background.
The Treasurer will lead, assist, and advise the Board of Trustees on financial reporting and decision making. The Treasurer will lead the Audit, Fundraising and Finance Subcommittee.
The incoming Trustee will be Chair of People Subcommittee, overseeing the development and implementation of the subcommittee’s workplan and all associated people related matters that stem from overall board business.
The anticipated time commitment is approximately 4-6 hours per month (variable, as required) which includes 4 Board meetings a year, quarterly Subcommittee meetings, Annual General Meeting, Board Development Days, and any ad-hoc meetings / engagements as required.
