Job Description

What you’ll be doing :

  • Prepare samples using appropriate methods for sample processing, extraction and clean-up.
  • Instrumental analyses using established methods and novel techniques.
  • Contribute to instrument maintenance and repair.
  • Be aware of and follow the appropriate quality assurance and safety procedures.
  • Write and work from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to defined quality standards.
  • Deliver training to internal staff and external delegates.
  • Support Team Manager with project management and business development.
  • Contribute to and / or write customer reports
  • Report results within deadlines to accreditation standards.
  • Contribute to the development of new methods
  • What we’re looking for :

  • Knowledge and experience of wet chemistry techniques for sample extraction and clean-up.
  • Demonstrable practical and theoretical experience of GC- & LC- MS and MS / MS analysis including method development, routine operation and data processing.
  • Knowledge of pesticides residues analyses.
  • Experience of implementing and operating within ISO 17025 standard
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use of bespoke software to a high level.
  • Ability to learn and implement new laboratory techniques and effectively troubleshoot.
  • Self-motivated with proven leadership skills with an ability to lead and develop good working relationships with colleagues in the team and across Fera.
  • A methodical approach to work and attention to detail.
  • Good organisational and time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Experience writing scientific papers for publication in peer reviewed journals
