    THG / Voyager WMS

    Voyager is THG’s proprietary Warehouse Management Software (WMS). It has underpinned the exponential growth of THG’s fulfilment operation since 2016 and operates all THG’s major warehouses around the globe.

    Voyager is a WMS built for and by ecommerce experts to support and deliver excellent service to customers and an efficient and reliable resource to the business.

    The Voyager engineering team use the latest, best-in-breed tools and technologies to develop, build and deploy the software.

  • Compose and build with Gradle and Jenkins
  • Build Infrastructure as Code using Ansible and Terraform on THG’s OpenStack platform
  • Measure and monitor with Prometheus, Splunk On Call and Grafana
  • Employ a message-driven architecture supported by RabbitMQ
  • Use Consul for cloud configuration and service discovery
  • Collaborate using Confluence, JIRA, GitHub and Teams
  • Voyager is now available as SaaS to THG Ingenuity customers and through this channel it’s usage around the world will grow rapidly supported by its world class team of engineers - come join them.

    Role Summary

    A Senior Software Engineer will work as part of a small engineering team to maintain, improve, build and innovate within Voyager WMS (Warehouse Management Software).

    The engineering team have the remit and ownership of a functional area of Voyager, but will also contribute to the wider Voyager product.

    Each team will be responsible for the planning, estimation and execution of software improvements and innovation. The Engineers are responsible for the full

    stack of technology used to deliver Voyager and will work closely with other engineering teams, Process, Project and Support teams.

    A Senior Software Engineer has a range of experience in terms of duration and field and is an inquisitive technologist at heart.

    They have a strong, demonstrable ability in software development and are up-to-date with technologies and their usage and application in a fast-moving, agile engineering team.

    They are capable of and enjoy learning about a wide range of technologies through reading and research and using that to design and build solutions incorporating those technologies.

    Skills and Abilities

    The Engineer will have experience, expertise and / or training in many of the following :

  • Java and associated tech and libraries.
  • Software testing practices, good-practice and the implementation thereof.
  • Software build tools and pipelines. Jenkins is particularly relevant.
  • Infrastructure as Code and DevOps.
  • Working outside of their core skill set.
  • Successfully managing, designing and delivering technical change.
  • Debugging issues in all layers of a system.
  • Confidently able to conduct code reviews.
  • Communicating with and training others in complex technical scenarios.
  • Understanding and complying with application security standards.
  • Use and implementation of technologies such as :
  • o Gradle
