Job Description

To take a lead role in providing administrative support to the Nursing Team to ensure they make the best use of time in the clinical area.

You will also ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the ward / unit whilst upholding the philosophy of the Clinic and the ward / unit.

  • Job Type : Full Time, permanent position.
  • Hours : 37.5 Hours per week; 5x shifts p / week, covering the service within 7am to 8pm; Monday to Sunday.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet all patients and visitors to the unit in a friendly and polite manner and answer all telephone calls.
  • To prepare patient medical folders and related documentation for patients prior to admission, this includes printing patient labels and ID bands on arrival.
  • Prepare pathology request forms with accurate details of blood tests required prior to admission, and ensure that all pathology test results are filled and printed out as appropriate.
  • To manage the daily Ward Concurrent Review (authorisation for length of stay) received from the Patient Liaison team. You will ensure the required updates are obtained from the nursing team and communicated to the Patient Liaison team.
  • Organise appointments for x-rays, ECG, echocardiograms, blood tests as instructed by the Consultant or Nursing Team, as well as liaising with the consultant and medical secretaries in arranging follow-up appointments for each patient.
  • Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Ward Co-ordinator / Receptionist in a similar hospital setting or a 4 5* hotel or corporate front of house setting.
  • Knowledge or experience of working in an office and / or customer care environment, undertaking administrative duties.
  • Excellent communicator who is adaptable and has good attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Good inter-personal skills who is calm, methodical, self-motivated, and can work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team or his / her own.
