Job Description

The Software Tester is responsible for software testing aspects of new product developments, working in close collaboration with RDT’s development team and others involved internally and externally in the electronic / electrical and mechanical design aspects of these products.

This will include running acceptance test protocols, testing guarded or prototype releases, system testing.

A key element of the job is the rigorous testing on RDT’s product software before release to production.

The person will, from time to time, be required to assist with related technical aspects of RDT’s products especially in relation to testing.


  • Integration system testing, running acceptance test protocols, performing tests on guarded and prototype code.
  • Debugging support working in close collaboration with other engineers internally and software subcontractors externally involved in all design aspects of RDT’s products.
  • Documenting and reporting any issues with the testing, including completion of test reports and ATP protocol results.
  • Provision and maintenance of appropriate tools, facilities and equipment for testing of product software.
  • Managing test prototypes, including some hands-on assembly, disassembly, fault finding, or other investigations relating to product development.

  • To comply with design control procedures established as part of the company’s quality management system, and to maintain appropriate records to demonstrate these procedures have been followed;
  • To ensure the work tasks assigned are carried out carefully and thoroughly, and any problems reported to the person who assigned the work and your line manager.

  • Assigned testing tasks, including ATPs, and integrated system testing.
  • Completing test protocol results and writing test reports as assigned.
  • Assisting in the hardware and software development.


  • A Bachelor of Engineering or Computing degree or equivalent from an accredited school in an appropriate engineering / technical discipline;
  • Working knowledge and experience of software verification / validation
  • PC literate. Experienced in Word, Excel, and Internet applications.
  • Desirable

  • Software development experience with either embedded and / or Windows software
  • Interpersonal Skills

  • Good interpersonal, communication, attention to detail and self-starter skills;
  • Ability to work as a part of a team, and individually while using own initiative;
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a dedication to maintaining high quality standards.
