Therefore, we are looking for an exceptional Director of Internal Communications & Engagement, who knows their discipline inside out, to join our Global Communications team.
Someone who is strategic, with deep experience of developing and delivering innovative campaigns, an excellent communicator who can write and produce engaging content and can make an impact quickly.

Strategy setting and culture build
Contribute to and execute an over-arching, innovative and long-range employee communications and engagement strategy for Elsevier with defined objectives, messages, deliverables and measurement criteria.
Working with the VP of Internal Communications, support, coach and engage senior leaders in driving culture change and organizational clarity around our strategic goals.
Help develop and implement innovative internal engagement campaigns that embed our operating principles and create awareness around our strategy.
Functional expert in internal campaigns
Working with the VP of Internal Communications, HR and the wider Global Communications team, build and execute internal communications strategies that combine impactful multi-stakeholder / channel campaigns, engaging curation of news, success stories and other content which will resonate with and inspire our people.
Collaborate with the Digital Communications team in revamping Elsevier’s internal digital communications channels so they are fit for today’s fast-paced internal information and collaboration needs.
Also, develop face to face interactions for maximum impact.
Work closely with our employer brand team to align messaging and brand development between external and internal efforts.
Collaborate with the global strategy team to improve awareness of and engagement in Elsevier’s organizational strategy and a wider employee motivation to deliver upon it.
Work closely with Human Resources to help build communications competence and emotional intelligence for our people while also better showcasing opportunities for personal development, learning and growth globally.
Actively liaise with counterparts within RELX (corporate center and the other three businesses) to share and learn from best practice.
Be an active ambassador for internal communications and engagement.
Monitoring & metrics
Define and systematically update, and share with others, a dashboard of internal communications and engagement metrics.
Ensure evidence-based continuous improvement of content, channels, impact.
Experience & Skills
Strong internal communications and engagement experience gained in-house within a corporate communications function of a global business, and / or at a top public relations consultancy leading internal communications accounts.
Excellent writing and editing skills are a prerequisite you will have strong experience in writing engaging and impactful English-language copy for different audiences and channels, including for articles, townhall presentations, CEO / senior leader speeches, blogs, video scripts.
Experience of managing internal communications platforms and a mix of channels is essential, including digital, events, ambient.
You will be tech savvy; someone who is intimately familiar with the latest technologies deployed for successful, global internal communications and experiential engagement.
Experience of creating audio visual content for different channels and audiences.
Experience in delivering through influence and collaboration, with the ability to motivate others towards shared goals.
Change management experience is desirable, with the ability to translate complex projects into concrete programs that make a tangible difference.
You are a fast learner with the ability to develop a strong command of the key issues in the research, health and publishing technology industries.
Experience of managing agencies and suppliers in a way that delivers value and achieves positive outcomes.
You must be able to connect effortlessly with a diverse population and effectively communicate with all levels across the organisation - someone who is culturally aware and emotionally intelligent.
You will have the ability to work on multiple projects, often with minimal supervision, sometimes with ambiguity and ability to maintain poise under pressure.
While your attention to detail and getting work right first time will be strong, you will also be able to see the bigger, long-range picture.
A strong work ethic is important. You are someone who will roll up their sleeves and get on with the job. At the same time, you take time to listen and reflect.

Educated to University graduate / Masters degree level.
