Xihelm is developing the first viable automated picking robot for glasshouse vegetables. Youll be helping to make that a reality as our boots-on-the-ground with customers.


  • Operating Xihelms latest robotic harvesters within glasshouses both locally and remotely.
  • Ensuring produce is delivered to a high standard to handover to the customer
  • General maintenance of robots and machinery
  • Communicate and escalate any difficulties encountered with remote and onsite teams in a timely manner
  • Cleaning robots and tidying work areas, and monitoring stock / parts / equipment
  • Moving trolleys around the greenhouse and surrounding area (both remote control, assisted and physically)
  • Completing various checklists (end of day etc.)
  • Operate / monitor multiple pieces of equipment during day-to-day operation to maintain quality and minimise unplanned downtime
  • Accurate reporting on metrics collected in field (e.g. crop state)
  • Assisting teams with minor repair or modification work
  • As well as the requirements (must have) below, you could also have :

  • Experience operating machinery remotely.
  • Experience in the tomato greenhouse industry
  • Experience in manufacturing / machinery / robotics is a strong plus.
  • Experience using hand tools, and carrying out small repairs.
  • Work will largely involve operating machinery remotely from a workstation. Preparing customer produce to meet their expectations.

    The job will require manoeuvring wheeled equipment manually, so some bending over & pushing is required. The environment may be humid and hot.

    You will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Furthermore, you need to prove you have the right to work in the UK (visa / passport etc.)

    This is a full-time, permanent position and you will be required on-site for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (excluding 1hr unpaid lunch break).

    Flexibility will be needed for shift work over (as we operate over a 24 / 7 period in future) - compensation will be adjusted for anti-social hours etc.

    £18,720 to £20,800 per annum, depending on experience.

    Must have

  • Clear, concise communicator (written and verbal)
  • A no-sugar-coating, honest personality
  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility and seek help when needed
  • Basic computer operation skills (including smartphones, email, spreadsheets)
  • Basic numerical and literacy skills (percentages, reading manuals etc.)
  • A drive to be organised, and to help organise
  • Be willing and able to work sometimes bending over, pushing machinery and up ladders etc.
  • Minimum experience / skills
