At WSP in Shropshire our primary function is to support Shropshire Council in the maintenance and Improvement of Shropshire’ s highway network.

Having recently secured funding for major highway improvement schemes, such as the Shrewsbury North West Relief Road, Oxon Link Road and the A5 Mile End Junction, we are looking to expand our team.

WSP’s office, based in the rural town of Shrewsbury, is integrated with the Client due to our longstanding relationship and collaborative working practices.

The existing team provides a supporting environment and actively promotes professional development across a diverse range of interesting projects which include major projects, public realm schemes and large highway maintenance program’s.

A typical week would include :

  • Providing professional administrative support to individuals and technical teams, to deliver an excellent standard of support.
  • Providing a pivotal role in supporting the general day to day running of the office by providing administration support to the Office Manager and various technical teams within the contract
  • Daily management of communications in and out of a dynamic office, working methodically within WSP’s QA processes.
  • You will be the public face of WSP and will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Shrewsbury office. These visitors will range from WSP colleagues from other offices, Clients, Contractors, Councilors and other elected officials.
  • Assisting with the preparation of documents and presentations for both internal and external requirements including public exhibitions.
  • Editing documents, checking for correct use of language, spelling and formatting prior to issue.
  • Arranging and facilitating internal and external events and meetings.
  • Providing support for other ad / hoc duties as and when required, which may include roles such as Fire Marshall training and First Aid training.
  • Booking travel tickets and accommodation.
  • We'd love to hear from you if you have :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have an extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and are proficient in other forms of IT.
  • You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and be able to prioritise your workload to deliver a high standard output within challenging timescales.
  • You have the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, Clients and other stakeholders and portray a professional image at all times to reflect WSP’s corporate image.
  • You have the ability and willingness to provide support and collaborate with other Administrative Professionals and support staff during times of heavy workload and absences.
  • A full, current UK driving license is required to discharge your duties effectively
