IT Support Technician

IT Support Technician / 1st Line Support / 2nd Line Support / Microsoft / Wolverhampton / Permanent

My client, a nationally recognised organisation, is looking for an experienced IT Support Technician to join the IT team at their Wolverhampton head office.

The IT Support Technician will be responsible for general IT support across the group. You will assist in the day to day support, providing help to end-user's with IT queries, requests and problems.

This role will be based at the Wolverhampton site most of the time and will also require travel to remote sites.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide first point contact support to end-users
  • Provide additional help to IT staff as and when required
  • Help facilitate end user's IT requirements
  • Assist in development and improvement of the division wide support function
  • Provide advice and guidance to end-users
  • Assist / support IT Infrastructure Manager
  • Support for general hardware (laptops, PCs, servers, printers etc.)
  • Provide support for standard software such as MS office 2016, 365 services, SharePoint, Windows 7 / 10 etc.
  • Act as administrator for systems such as end user backup system, signature software, asset inventory, auditing etc.
  • Ensure the IT support helpdesk is kept up to date, and manage the system on a day to day basis
  • Key Skills and Experience required :

  • Experience of working in an IT support role (at least 3 years in role)
  • Experience in supporting a range of systems and a variety end user's requirement is essential
  • Have a flexible approach
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Capacity to prioritise and flexibility are essential
  • Ability to work well under pressure and hit deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of general Microsoft software and network connectivity including TCPIP / VPN / VLANs
  • Experience of Windows server 2012, Hyper-V, Cisco Meraki and Mimecast would be beneficial
  • Professional and proactive approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills and able to communicate at all levels
