We are currently looking for a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our buildings team in Manchester.

As a Senior / Principal Mechanical Services Engineer you will be a key part of the Building Services Engineering Senior Team, managing multidisciplinary projects while providing technical support and mentoring to the other Mechanical engineers.

You will be part of a collaborative team of over 35 engineers and technicians in the Manchester office and a wider 100+ engineers and technicians within the North West & Yorkshire region.

Key responsibilities :

  • Apply your engineering expertise to shape our projects.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary environment and aim to design buildings that maximise value for our clients whilst minimising their environmental impact.
  • Play an active role in all stages of our projects from feasibility through to completion across a number of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, energy, sport, health and mixed-use developments.
  • Play a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, seeking new ways to increase our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital approach to design.
  • Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Services Engineering, ideally to Masters level.
  • Have achieved Chartered Engineer status via an appropriate professional institution such as IMechE or CIBSE (or international equivalent)
  • Lead Mechanical Services Engineering design responsibility on projects
  • Excellent design and technical skills
  • Enjoys working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary design teams, contributing to projects from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrable experience in the field of mechanical building services design with experience across a range of project scales and building types
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness and develop successful client relationships
  • Committed to their own professional development and looking for challenging work to develop their engineering skill.
  • A passion for design and an enthusiasm for architecture and sustainable building design.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent technical aptitude and experience in design analysis software.
  • Experience of working within a BIM environment using Revit with knowledge of parametric design beneficial.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience of managing small teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects
  • Assist in training and developing younger engineers and technicians
  • The Manchester Building Engineering Services team are currently working on a wide range of projects including;
  • Higher Education : Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD), for the University of Manchester, new build and refurbishment, MECD Workspace delivering CAT B fitout of spaces.

    Commercial : Radbroke Hall which includes refurbishment works to a Grade II listed building along with proposed new builds, Leicester Square Hotel, new build 9 storey hotel in London

    Healthcare : North Manchester General Hospital which includes both new build and refurbishment, Paterson Building, demolition and redevelopment of part of The Christie in Manchester

    Residential : Victoria Riverside which comprises of 634 apartments across 3 towers 37, 26 and 18 storeys in Manchester.

    Heritage : Manchester Town Hall, refurbishment of the Grade 1 Listed building
