The Opportunity

Nuclear Decommissioning

Customer Engagement Manager, Multiple locations to include; Barnwood - Gloucester, East Kilbride - Glasgow, Hunterston - North Ayrshire, Heysham - Lancashire, Hartlepool - County Durham or Hinkley B Somerset.

When nuclear stations reach the end of their generating capability they move into the next phase of their lives, which is to remove the fuel and to prepare for decommissioning.

A superb opportunity for a Customer Engagement Manager is available to establish and manage the business relationships between EDF Nuclear Decommissioning and the Customer (NLA, BEIS, NDA, NLF Trustees).

This post has the primary responsibility for ensuring an effective and well organised working relationship with the customer and feeding back to Nuclear Decommissioning the Voice of the Customer.

The Person

  • The post holder will be the voice of the customer within EDF. A true ambassador for the Company. Responsible for external Stakeholder interfaces;
  • Account management, Formal submissions and meetings / reviews, central point of contact for customer responses.

    Managing external customer relationships (including the NLA (Non-NDA Liabilities Assurance), NDA (Nuclear Decommissioning Authority) and BEIS (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) NLF Trustees (Nuclear Liabilities Fund)

    Establish the EDF / NLA Governance forum which will steer strategic decisions across the decommissioning lifecycle and review the high-level performance of the Decommissioning lifecycle.

    Identify customer risks for example leadership change within NDA.

    The Skills

    Ideal candidates will be robust and customer focused and, would have worked at Senior Manager or equivalent level previously.

  • Must have high levels of political, commercial and strategic awareness and is required to proactively and effectively develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders in addition to the following;
  • Extensive knowledge of the nuclear operating business especially commercial drivers, business opportunities and risks
  • Significant experience of managing senior government relationships
  • Experience of high value complex commercial contracts

  • Financially astute and commercial acumen
  • Exceptional communication skills ability to communicate and convey complex information simply at all levels
  • Lead complex team based commercial negotiations
  • Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and translate into needs for the Nuclear Decommissioning team to execute.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and trust with all stakeholders in the context of achieving the contract and protecting EDF.
  • Collaborative working behaviours both internally and externally to EDF.
  • Long term relationship planning and management (stakeholder management)
  • Insightful personality sharing a fact-based approach to discussions and decisions
