Job description

Main Purpose of Post :

To work with young people aged 16-25 in order to ensure their inclusion in mainstream services. To hold a case load, provide direct contact and oversee the delivery of interventions designed to address their needs.

To provide early engagement and intervention for young people when referred to the Detached Youth Work Team.

To keep in regular contact with all young people identified, helping to avoid crisis points and to resolve problems as soon as possible, enabling them to maintain their progress and personal development.

To work with young people in resolving their issues of homelessness or of being vulnerably housed.

To plan and implement appropriate service exit strategies for young people leaving the support of the detached youth work team.

This is usually due to age (being over 25 years), due to circumstance such as moving away, or due to personal progression such as achieving employment.

To facilitate the brokerage of appropriate support for these young people.

To enable the better tracking of young people in need of support; and ultimately, support a reduction in the number of young people aged 16-25 who are not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

Support the implementation of the annual youth service action plan for the designated area.
