Health Economist & Outcomes Researcher

We are looking for a highly motivated, technically adept health economist to work with our applied sciences team in shaping the delivery of value-based care on a global scale.

Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, you will be part of a skilled multi-disciplinary team of statisticians, data scientists, epidemiologists and clinicians focused on measuring population and individual-level health risks and delivering on Babylon’s mission of accessible, affordable health care by establishing the most effective pathways to do so.

This will be a varied role, including evaluating the economic benefits of our digital health products, the cost-effectiveness of condition management programmes and other health interventions, and analysing the impact of different care delivery pathways for existing and new markets.


  • Quantifying economic outcomes at both a population and individual level for targeted health risk stratification and uncertainty quantification;
  • Evaluating the cost trade-offs and optimal target groups for different health intervention products;
  • Conduct systematic literature reviews into health intervention effectiveness and regional cost implications;
  • Presenting findings from research to senior stakeholders to inform strategic decisions for market access;
  • Defining metrics and data collection strategy to inform business-wide HEOR understanding;
  • Work with existing models for risk and health outcome prediction and simulation and adapt to incorporate health economic understanding;
  • Reconciling insights learned from specific local populations to inform decision-making on global populations.

  • Adept at primary research to identify economic-related factors and outcomes across different healthcare settings;
  • Comfortable working with large micro-level and aggregated datasets to draw insights into health resource allocation;
  • Ability to construct statistical models (e.g. microsimulation, forecasting) to measure the impact of interventions on health economic outcomes;
  • Able to reconcile information from existing published research with internally-derived data insights to inform optimal decision-making;
  • Accomplished in practical use of economic evaluation methods.
  • Ph.D or postgraduate Masters qualification in Health Economics or a related field;
  • 2+ years experience in a health economics outcome research (HEOR) or real-world evidence (RWE) role;
  • Strong statistical and econometric understanding, comfortable working with models and experimental design;
  • Comfortable working with statistical / data analysis tools (R, Python, SAS, SPSS, Stata);
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Experience working with complex statistical models including graphical models, time series forecasting and survival analysis;
  • Experience building and applying simulation models (for example, discrete event simulation, state-transition, survival partition) to establish cost-effectiveness and interventional impact;
  • Experience working on healthcare projects target at delivering value-based care;
  • Additional background or experience working in public health or clinical settings;
  • A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals in the field of health economics, and related disciplines.
