The Data Solutions Lead provides pre-sales technical expertise to the sales and vendor teams for the Big Data and edge computing portfolio of products and services offered by Arrow.

You’ll also support and enable Arrow Partners, SIs, MSPs and Resellers in both a technical and commercial capacity.

This role will focus specifically on next generation architectures in Data solutions and associated ecosystem vendors. The Data Solutions Lead is responsible for engaging with the relevant vendor teams, owning technical enablement of Arrow’s partners in this space and building joint propositions with the commercial teams.

Key Skills / Experience / Technology skills

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Big Data and Edge computing services in a customer-facing role
  • Experience designing and / or implementing data solutions for data analytics or IoT scenarios using modern technologies and techniques (for example using NoSQL databases, streaming platforms etc)
  • Ideally, experience working in a pre-sales role, aligned to sales teams
  • Professional and specific vendor accreditations from key Big Data and edge computing vendors as well as affiliated ecosystem vendors
  • Big data and edge computing domain knowledge and expertise ideally, evidenced by blogs, articles, technical writing work or shareable project case studies
  • Clear, logical and persuasive communication skills with an ability to work closely with executives and employees at all levels
  • Ability to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the Big Data and edge computing industry and managed Data and Edge services
  • A highly entrepreneurial spirit that manifests itself in a let’s make it happen approach, coupled with initiative and adaptability
  • Commercial acumen; this is a customer and partner-facing role and whilst it is very technical you’ll need commercial awareness and credibility
  • You’ll have technical skills and experience with many of the following technologies and concepts :

  • SQL, OLAP / BI, Data modelling, business analytics
  • Cloud-based solutions, including Microsoft Azure data and analytics services
  • Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark
  • Microsoft Power BI, Synapse Analytics
  • Machine Learning
  • Batch and streaming architectures
  • Architecting a modern Datawarehouse use modern technologies meeting customer requirements, such as to be scalable and cost-effective
  • Relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle)
  • You’ll have familiarity with vendors in this space and their product portfolio, such as :


  • You’ll be the go-to technical specialist for sales teams and downstream partners on the B ig Data and edge computing product portfolio
  • A thought leader with regard to the choice of platform, migration & benefits for a partner and their customers
  • Participation in RFPs for key customers
  • Onboarding and enablement of new vendors & downstream partners
  • Presenting to Arrow customers the products and services portfolio and the benefits of working with Arrow
  • Design, management & delivery of B ig Data and edge computing product demonstrations & labs
  • Responsibilities

    Vendor, Partner, Arrow

    Duties will include but are not restricted to :

  • Establish technical relationships with partners and, on occasion, with end-user organisations as well as key stakeholders like CIOs and the many and varied stakeholders who contribute towards an organisation’s Big Data and edge computing strategy
  • Review and assure appropriateness and technical integrity of solutions
  • Make pre-sales calls on prospective partners, participate in local and regional seminars, and act as a technical account specialist for existing customers.
  • Be the technical focal point for partner engagements around demonstrations, potential solutions & programme expertise supported by the relevant vendor team
  • Deliver solution presentations to partners, at vendor events and industry events
  • Advise clients transitioning to cloud-based and managed Data and Edge services
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Big Data and edge computing platform capabilities
  • Engage partners in development of comprehensive Big Data and edge computing services offerings, helping partners with their go-to-market proposition
  • Train, educate & incentivise partners alongside Arrow’s commercial teams
  • Work in tandem with the various business development and sales teams in fulfilling sales goals and responding to RFI / RFPs
  • Work proactively with the Arrow Cloud team to drive MSP engagement around cloud adoption in the Arrow Big Data and edge computing product and services portfolio
  • Provide pre-sales technical support to the sales and vendor teams covering specific vendors to be determined in consultation with the Director of Technology and Services
  • Remain knowledgeable & fully certified with a strong understanding of current industry technology (specifically in Big Data and edge computing), trends, and the competition
  • Spend at least 2 days each week presenting in front of partners in small (round table) discussions as well as large (seminar) audiences
  • Hours of Work

    The company’s standard hours of work are 9.00am 5.30 pm with one hour for lunch, however due to the nature of this role flexibility will be required in order to meet the needs of the role.

    In addition, this role is externally facing and therefore there will be the expectation that you will be required to travel upwards of 20-30% of the time (after lockdown).
