We have exciting opportunities for cost engineers to join our fast-growing defence team in the UK.

In this position you will :

  • Maintain compliance with standards and expectations concerning safety.
  • Comply with project controls procedures, processes and systems to ensure that quality and consistency of data is maintained.
  • Contribute to improving the quality and performance of cost control processes and systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of change control procedures, and subsequent implementation.
  • Upkeep records for change control and trends and the maintenance of the trend / change log.
  • Be responsible for the preparation of change control reports, identifying critical areas, and providing trend analysis and early warnings to the project services function.
  • Assist in the preparation of ongoing project reviews and providing advice on corrective actions.
  • Identify variances and develop the appropriate mitigation strategies for recommendation to the project team.
  • Ensure budgets are controlled within authorised funding limits and in accordance with financial procedures. Monitor trends monthly, provide analysis to the project Team and invoke the project change control procedure invoked where required.
  • Assist the project services function in the day to day management of project control activities.
  • Be responsible for monthly and ad hoc reporting requirements, including management of monthly reports and reporting on behalf of the head of cost engineering and estimating.
  • Perform any other project control duties as and when required by the head of cost engineering and estimating.

The defence portfolio is part of the wider advisory programme delivery unit which delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity from £millions to 20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting, education and healthcare management.

    This is an excellent opportunity for junior planners with around 1 years planning experience to join Mott MacDonald and gain the opportunity to work within a fantastic organisation with genuine career growth.

    The role is responsible for setting and maintaining the performance management baseline for project(s) within the team(s).

    It is responsible for directing and integrating all aspects of earned value management, cost management, cost estimating, scheduling and risk management.

    It is responsible for providing the portfolio manager and / or project managers with analysis of progress against the performance management baseline and driving recovery actions where necessary.
