Job Description : Managing Editor, Pharma The Managing Editor is responsible for editing pharmaceutical advertising materials in virtually every medium (print, digital, and TV) and at every stage of development.

As quality control for the agency, this role is crucial to the successful execution of projects, ensuring that every project is accurate, error free, and adheres to brand, medical, legal, and regulatory guidelines.

What you will do : On any given day you can expect to :

  • Serve as the lead editor for at least 1 brand, while also managing 1-3 direct reports across multiple lines of business
  • Onboard and train junior editors and freelancers on assigned accounts
  • Edit all marketing and sales training materials (eg, sales aids, journal ads, websites, emails, and TV spots) for assigned brand(s)
  • Adhere to client / brand and FDA guidelines and update editorial style guide as needed
  • Fact check all content prior to med / legal reviews, and collaborate with Copy to ensure all claims are scientifically accurate and supported
  • Direct all established editorial and agency processes, and partner with other department leads in ensuring all agency quality control measures are followed
  • Act as an expert resource on grammar, brand and client guidelines, and FDA regulations
  • Lead training classes on editorial processes for new hires for both the Editorial and Project Management Departments
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
  • Assume additional supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Associate Director or Editorial Director
  • Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of promotional pharmaceutical editing experience required
  • Prior HCP launch experience required
  • Mastery of Adobe Acrobat Pro and ProofHQ
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Expert knowledge of AMA style and FDA rules and regulations and a willingness to train others on compliance
  • At least 3 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Excellent time management and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across disciplines
  • Client-facing experience preferred
