The job : As a

II in our

Molecular Food Safety Team

you will be working on a number of varied, concurrent projects. You will be part of a small, specialist team, made up of scientists from a range of backgrounds : your duties will include validation, PCR and you may also work on COVID related projects.

Your key responsibilities will include :

Leading and carrying out food pathogen testing for the development, verification & validation of molecular food safety products

Coordinating validation (, AFNOR) of protocols for molecular products against ISO / USDA-FSIS / FDA-BAM standard methods

Interpreting large, complex datasets and make technical decisions, recognising where support is required

Planning and execution of custom protocol investigations for new and prospective customers

Proactively seeking solutions to mitigate risks that may impact project work / timelines

Presenting R&D project information to a range of audiences

Providing the R&D team with regular progress updates

Assist with product demonstrations for internal customers

Maintaining laboratory notebooks to the appropriate standard

Fulfil your duties in line with Health and Safety policies and procedures

Who we are looking for :

You need to be passionate about science, with experience of working in an industrial lab

Have competency in basic scientific techniques with the ability to pick up technical information quickly

Previous experience of leading a project / piece of work

A degree in Microbiology or another area of biological science

Good organisational and communication skills able to work well as part of a team and with a broad range of stakeholders

Self-motivated, with determination and the ability to work flexible hours (early start, late finish) in a high pace environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
