Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Heating Engineer to join the team based in Brighton starting as soon as possible.
This is a full time, permanent role and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,000-£30,000 per annum , depending on experience About the role : As our Heating Engineer , you will work to provide proactive and efficient operation of heating, hot water and other water services at the College and its broader estate.
Experience of working in a school or college environment or sports facility is desirable. Hours : The usual hours for the role are 40 per week, working from to , Monday to Friday with a one hour unpaid lunch break.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential. Following successful completion of probation you will be part of an on-call rota.
General duties and responsibilities as our Heating Engineer include : - To provide first response to heating and hot water issues at the college and undertake repairs as necessary - To oversee and manage the servicing and maintenance of pressurised equipment that is undertaken by specialist contractors - Developing and implementing the heating maintenance and service programmes for term-time, college holidays and in particular the Summer Holiday shutdown - Working closely with the Project Team to coordinate essential maintenance and refurbishment works with major construction projects - Manage and improve the controls for the various heating and hot water systems - Develop an improvement plan for energy efficiency - To ensure that operational stock levels are maintained - Issuing and controlling all appropriate legal paperwork ( certificates of testing, etc.
To assist with other works as required (particularly plumbing jobs) in support of the Facilities service - An acting member of the on-call rota on successful completion of a three-month probation period.
