A dedicated private facility, recently awarded 'Outstanding' by the CQC, offering expert care for cancers and blood disorders.

We work with internationally renowned experts to provide specialist treatment adult Oncology and Haematology care, including a JACIE accredited bone marrow transplant service.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Oncology / Haematology doctor to provide risk management, to be part of a medical team to assess patients within the day care and outpatient settings.

This is a rotational post between day care, outpatients and Oncology & Haematology Ward.

Contract Type : Permanent contract, Full Time, Day Shifts only, Monday-Friday 9am-6pm.

We are supportive of training and have developed links with Universities to provide a programme of joint appointments for those doctors wishing to study for a higher degree such as a PhD.

We have also extended this co operation with NHS facilities and Research Institutes for doctors who also wish to go out of programme to study for other qualifications such as clinical management degrees.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • In this role you will be present and contactable within the day care and outpatient settings at all times.
  • Examine and review patients when required / requested by the nursing staff or Consultants
  • Responsibility for prescribing of medicines to take home (TTOs).
  • Initiate routine requests and treatments with the prior consent of the consultants, undertake certain medical procedures as required including bone marrow biopsies
  • Provide urgent medical attention and urgent treatment to staff or visitors in case of accident tor sudden illness in liaison with the senior nurse on duty.
  • Communicate any medical problems or concerns to Consultants
  • Undertake emergency procedures as required, taking the lead as necessary
  • Assist in the admission process / transfer of patients to the inpatient ward including clerking the patient
  • Maintain clinical notes on all patients attended; notes should be legible, dated, timed and signed.
  • Attend departmental meetings
  • Take part in ward audits, education, training and research to continuous improve and strive for excellence, for staff and patients.
  • Skills and Experience - MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

  • Fully Registered with the GMC
  • Successful completion of MRCP or equivalent ( Desirable )
  • Evidence of achievement of CT / ST1&2 competencies in a medical specialty
  • Advanced Life Support Training
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of IT and computer databases
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Outstanding Team Player
