Data Analyst (Audience, Content & SEO)
Salary : £30k-£40k DOE
We are one of the UK’s largest regional news publishers with over 170 titles and more than 25 million monthly online visitors.
Newsquest recently announced a £1.5m investment in recruiting a further 50 digital journalists, with 15 SEO journalists specifically to increase our audience via search.
As part of this investment, we need an exceptional data analyst to join our audience & analytics team to inform product, marketing and editorial decisions across all of Newsquest.
You will understand and work across all aspects of our digital products but with a particular focus on SEO audience acquisition and growth.
Working alongside the newly formed SEO team, you’ll bring our content decisions to life through data, identifying audience consumption habits and performing 'deep-dive data analysis to provide actionable insights that will help our journalists reach the biggest possible audience with the right content, at the right time, in the right places.
The role works hand to hand, day in, day out with colleagues in our Product, Subscriptions, Editorial and Commercial teams to deliver insights through data, define and provide reporting and to identify risks and opportunities.
As important as any aspect of this role, you’ll act as an advocate for data-informed decision making, particularly with editorial teams.
Skills and experience
A core part of this role is about content and SEO, so experience working in a publishing environment, particularly with an SEO element, would be highly advantageous.
You are highly numerate and analytical and you excel at breaking down a problem or task. When working alone, you get on with it, when working with a team, you are proactive, collegiate and pragmatic.
Equally important are your excellent communication skills and your ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner with clear, evidence-based recommendations.
A few years solid experience with a major analytics tool such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics is a given. Other skills that would be extremely advantageous...
The role can be based in any of a selection of our offices, but could also be predominantly remote (home working).
