What are the responsibilities of this General Porter role?
To ensure that the Portering service meets the needs and expectations of Patients, Visitors and Ward team.
To Move patients in / out and around the hospital in a safe, caring, efficient manner, ensuring their dignity, well being and safety is maintained at all times.
To carry out daily checks on the wheel chairs, manual handling mechanical aids, record any defects accordingly to the Portering Supervisor.
To lift, handle, transport any goods including furniture, beds, deliveries for patients / staff, medical / IT equipment, etc
To transport clinical waste bags including sharps bins to the clinical waste storage facility; this will involve frequent exposure to highly unpleasant working conditions.
To be able to work independently or as part of a team and with limited direct supervision
