This role is an exciting opportunity to join us and provide legal support within the Technology, Media & Enterprise Services team, which is a division of the Corporate Services legal team.

The Corporate Services directorate is part of the wider Sky UK Legal Department, which is a first class in-house legal team, comprising 100+ lawyers boasting a wide range of expertise and providing commercially-

focused legal advice across the breadth and depth of Sky’s business operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of legal support primarily to the Sales & Marketing Group and Customer Services Group, as well as assisting the wider Corporate Services team in the provision of legal support to other business units at Sky.

You will :

  • Marketing & Advertising systems & services arrangements, such as media planning & buying agreements, direct with broadcasters and via agencies, creative services & talent agreements, research, analytics & marketing technology and toolsets
  • Commercial partnership and affiliate sales and sponsorship arrangements to drive customer aware and the services and systems that support our customer services group (outsourcing and services arrangements) but the successful candidate will also gain experience across a wide range of corporate services work (including systems and services deals) to support Sky UK’s Media Sales, Corporate, Finance, HR & Technology business units.

  • Be responsible for providing business-focused legal advice and drafting and negotiating commercial contracts for Sky’s Marketing and Customer Services groups.
  • You will be responsible for managing the legal work for those business units across the wider Technology, Media & Enterprise Services legal team and for managing our legal services providers and law firms who also provide support to those areas.
  • Sky is currently the UK’s top spender on traditional advertising and you will be responsible for all aspects of marketing and advertising services arrangements.
  • The sales and marketing work is diverse and interesting and ranges from media planning and buying through research and creative agency & talent agreements, to new technology platforms and data & analytics services on the marketing front to commercial sales, promotional and sponsorship arrangements on the sales / trading fronts.
  • Similarly, for Sky’s Customer Services Group you will be responsible for all of sky’s outsourced contact service centre arrangements and the CRM, billing, and payment platforms that support our DTH and OTT product offerings.

    These large, strategically important relationships underpin Sky’s service delivery and are a foundational element of our content delivery platforms.

  • You will work closely - and establish great relationships with your colleagues across the wider Sky, Comcast and NBC Universal groups as well as other functions (such as Finance, Compliance, Security & Data Protection) who provide support to your business stakeholders.
  • You will be engaged in exciting pan-group projects for the launch of new Sky and NBC Universal platforms and products as well as internal innovation and operational improvement programmes within the legal department, creating the Legal Department of the future, now.
  • You’ll have :

  • Great inter-personal skills and experience in managing a diverse workload for multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Extensive experience in negotiating commercial sourcing agreements including, marketing, media, advertising and sponsorship, preferably in the TMT sector and with a strong understanding of data protection laws and technology applicable to the sector.
  • At least 5 years PQE, either in-house at a broadcaster, sales house or advertising agency or top tier law firm advising the same.
