We're looking for a Rights of Access Specialist to join us in Bradford.
The purpose of the Rights of Access team is to support to our Wayleave Department who obtain and maintain rights of access over land prior to installation of the Virgin Media fibre network.
The Rights of Access team consist of 2 solicitors and a paralegal and we are looking to recruit a third qualified lawyer.
The team work closely with to the 2 lawyers in our Real Estate team and the Virgin Media Real Estate legal team.
You will focus on drafting and negotiation to reduce the time taken to agree wayleave documents, through knowledge of industry legislation and your ability to negotiate within legal parameters.
You will be required to advise the business of its rights under the new Electronic Communications Code as to the merits of a course of action.
You will empower Wayleave Officers to manage disputes with confidence through accurate and consistent support and contribute to providing reference documents and training.
Additionally, you will help to protect the integrity of the business’s existing network by managing a portfolio of diversion and trespass claims.
Produce high quality legal documentation including editing and negotiating specific wording, proof reading, technical drafting of contract clauses with the ability to self-manage;
Research and apply current legislation, and consider this alongside case law in order to properly advise and support our wayleave officers;
Accountable for the timely resolution of disputes in accordance with specific SLAs or KPIs relevant to your work type;
Manage the claims to a high standard, with integrity, in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements;
Draft and communicate with care and skill to uphold the professional image of the Claims Department;
Keep in mind the image, reputation and purpose of Virgin Media / Liberty Global
Typical knowledge, experience and skills
Qualified Solicitor / FCILEX we expect this role to be suitable for a candidate with up to 4 years PQE but will consider an NQ with property experience;
Experience working in a legal real estate team or in another team advising on property related matters is preferred
A working knowledge of the Electronic Communications Code would be beneficial but not essential
Listens to and understands stakeholders’ requirements
