As part of a transformation programme into a standalone PLC business and the build of a new tech team, Wickes are looking for a number of Project Managers, who will lead single or multiple projects within the technology team.

This is a great time to join a growing business, to be part of a new technology team. The Project Managers will oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects, through planning and leadership of people and budgets. Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations and appropriate process for accomplishing projects.
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle, and confer with the project team to outline a work plan.
  • Establish a work plan and resourcing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project resources.
  • Implement a project communication plan.
  • Perform risk assessment and implement mitigation plans.
  • Monitor project activities, ensuring the currency, quality and integrity of information, while providing consistency in content and look and feel across the business.
  • Ensure that project goals are achieved.
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to project resources and define the scope of their authority.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Review status reports prepared by project resources, and modify schedules or plans as required.
  • Establish standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
  • Benchmark project management performance continuously to identify the potential for improvements and increase capability in project and portfolio management.
  • What we are looking for We are looking for someone with a proven ability to build a strong understanding of the business, with a focus on problem solving.

    You will have worked in a business facing project management role previously and be able to provide evidence of success.

    You will have excellent knowledge of project planning tools, and will have managed Cloud and SaaS based solution projects.

    You will have the ability to build a strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence. Alongside this you will have

  • Ability to lead and motivate others; ability to empathise and knowledge of personality types.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (for example, that of the Project Management Institute, PRINCE2 and agile approaches).
  • Both a traditional waterfall and an agile approach and, where necessary, apply both methodologies as necessary
  • Knowledge of project-planning tools.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in setting and managing customer expectations.
  • Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills. This blend is vital because this is a highly visible position with substantial impact.
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role may not directly control resources.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies, and of how other enterprises are using them to drive digital business.
  • Ability to develop and execute a project resource plan that ensures that the right people are in the right place doing the right things at the right time.

    You will be working closely with the Wickes IT services team and will have the opportunity to advise and shape the technology landscape of Wickes.
