Working in our UK Delivery team is an exciting experience. We are at the heart of new product and roadmap development for Virgin Media.

We work collaboratively with the VM product teams, the wider CTIO team and our Liberty Global European IT & Delivery function, bringing exciting products to Virgin Media.

We are proud to be part of the world’s largest broadband communications company and continue to delight our customers in true Virgin style!We are looking for a passionate Senior Project Manager to join our newly formed UK Delivery team and work within our Consumer Solutions business area.

The UK Delivery Senior Project Manager’s prime responsibility is to define, manage and deliver several unrelated projects end to end.

You will act as interface with internal and external departments for the delivery of cross functional projects, ensuring that the projects produce the required deliverables to the agreed standard of quality and within the specified constraints of cost, risk, time and benefit.

As the Senior Project Manager you will deliver end to end projects from Project Initiation through to benefits realisation to ensure successful project viability, start-up through to project closure.

You will work closely with Senior Business Analysts, Principal Business Analysts, Programme Managers and Programme Directors, and be supported by technical SMEs.

Some of the key accountabilities include :

  • Secures business sponsorship and benefit owner
  • Typically secures and manages large financial budgets e.g. a central Investment Committee approved budget between £1m - £5m for any one project
  • Identifies and manages senior stakeholders
  • Determines, procures and manages appropriate resources internally and externally to deliver the project
  • Engages and manages all 3rd party relationships using company policies and procedures
  • Develops and gains agreement of project plan
  • Provides regular progress reports to stakeholders
  • Implements and maintains a consistent project management methodology ensuring project conforms to appropriate governance including all project documentation
  • Accountable for managing all aspects of risk, issues and contingency
  • Identifies dependencies with other business initiatives and key projects
  • Management of project escalation
  • Manages all project communications
  • Manages virtual project teams in a matrix environment
  • May have line management responsibility
  • Are you right for the role?Essential :

  • Proven track record in an end to end project delivery, planning, operations or complex business collaborative environment.
  • The ability to manage virtual teams working on a number of concurrent large cross functional projects with a successful track record of delivering such projects.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of project planning processes, techniques and methodologies
  • Experience in a multi-disciplined and commercial environment.
  • Ability to understand and manage multiple project risks, dealing with uncertainty, whilst being proactive and forward-looking
  • Knowledge of risk trade off options and their impact on project success
  • Ability to understand complex organisational designs and structures and understands how to relate these to the project being managed.
  • Owns and resolves escalated project issues
  • Advanced stakeholder management, negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Ability to engage and manage stakeholders effectively, resolving issues and understanding drivers / needs
  • Ability to respond to challenging priorities with a sense of urgency and pace.
  • Proven experience managing and reporting on monthly project finance budget
  • Desirable :

  • Recognised by a Project management institution as an accredited Project professional to APMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent
  • Agile Practitioner as UKD explores new delivery models, this would be highly desirable
  • Awareness of business analysis and change implementation
  • Awareness of process improvement methodologies including Lean & Six Sigma
  • Experience in the telecommunications / Broadband / cable TV industry
