Location - Flexible (Southampton preferred)
We need an experienced Urban Designer to lead our Urban Design and Master Planning offer in the South of the UK, as part of our Studio leadership team.
You will work alongside our existing design teams and will be expected to secure and deliver a range of commissions. You will assist our Head of Studio by helping to develop our strategic direction for our master planning and urban design skills in the residential sector.
You will be expected to bring existing client relationships and to help develop further relationships, both with private developers and public sector bodies.
You will also work closely with our Town Planning Directors to deliver major design commissions incorporating a range of inputs from our team of specialists to provide an effective solution for our clients.
This role is to lead, manage and develop our existing folio of work in the residential sector within the south of the UK.
You will also work closely with our team of Architectural, Urban Design and Landscape Design colleagues supporting projects across our national portfolio.
Preferably you will be based in our Southampton office with a balance of working from home and office. The successful candidate will be part of our vibrant design team and will work closely with our Director - Architecture and our Planning Director in Southampton.
You will be expected to build relationships with our Design and Planning teams across the region and work with team-mates from a wide range of disciplines within Tetra Tech.
You will be an experienced, strategically minded and results-driven practitioner. You will have experience managing and developing complex master planning and urban design solutions across a range of scales for public and private client bodies.
You must have existing client relationships which you can introduce to Tetra Tech. Preferably, you will have experience of working for public bodies, accessed using frameworks such as Homes England and CCS.
Fundamentally, you must have the ability to work at a high level employing a range of drawing, modelling and interpersonal skills to engage, influence and collaborate with cognate clients, colleagues and stakeholders on a broad range of interesting projects.
You will research, write and illustrate print-ready reports; you must have the ability to write fee and project bids; you will perform effectively at interview and will have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of an established team.
It is essential that you have a high level of personal numeracy as you will be responsible for financial control of the projects you lead.
