We are looking to recruit an energetic and enthusiastic Technician Demonstrator in Creative Media and Theatre to support the development and delivery of the curriculum across the subject area.
In addition to the studio and performance Areas in the faculty, the candidate is expected to provide specific support across subjects aligned to the creative industries.
Furthermore, there is a requirement to support the wider curriculum in Creative Media and Theatre, which covers a range of undergraduate courses in Media, Audio Visual and Performance.
In addition, due to the cross-disciplinary nature of the faculty the candidate would be expected to support requests from across the faculty, where appropriate.
The teaching and research activity in Creative Media and Theatre involves a significant element of studio / workshop activities including 3D design and fabrication.
The post involves providing specialist knowledge linked to technical and practical support contributing to the practical education of students through instruction and demonstration.
The post holder will also develop links with industry and encourage opportunities for students to work on live projects and become part of a dynamic industry.
The successful candidate will provide demonstrations of the use of equipment to relevant users. This will involve providing general support across the subject provision, especially techniques and equipment related to the Media and Audio / Visual industries.
This includes installing and maintaining equipment in both workshops and studios.
Applicants should hold at least a HNC level technical qualification or a BSc or equivalent or relevant work experience. Proven communication and organisational skills are vital to the role, and to be able and willing to engage collaboratively with the management of practical spaces and ensuring a robust culture of health and safety to help enhance the student experience across our courses.
The role is varied and challenging, so you will need to be a highly motivated individual who is able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
Welsh speaking is desirable for this role.
