About the team?

The Accelerate O2 (AO2) Programme is responsible for delivering a major transformation across O2’s Consumer and SMB business over the next few years.

The capability delivered will radically transform our customers’ experience, create a step change in our ability to innovate and deliver at pace and make us simpler and easier to do business with.

The Business Change work stream within the central AO2 Programme plays a significant role in this delivery, engaging the business effectively over the programme and release lifecycle, supporting the business preparation for the transformation including the dual running solutions needed in each business area and ultimately de-risking the implementation of this significant transformational change.

Considering the scale of the AO2 Programme, the Business Change work stream is comprised of two areas namely, Business Readiness and Change Delivery Assurance.

Business Change works with all business functions in a federated (shared ownership) model throughout the end to end change lifecycle and is responsible for :

  • Establishing the overall approach to delivery of Business Readiness and Change for the Programme by release
  • Defining and delivering an appropriate framework for the execution and governance of Business Readiness and Change activities by release
  • Providing best practice Change Governance and Change Delivery tools, methodologies, expertise and skills
  • Delivering detailed functional and summarised programme-level Change Impact Assessments and Business Readiness Plans, by business area and by release
  • Facilitating Business Readiness Go / No-go recommendations by release.
  • Ensuring a clear Communications and Engagement framework, approach and plans are in place both centrally and with each business area.
  • About the role?

    Reporting to the Change Delivery Programme Lead the role holder will be accountable for building and delivering the Business Readiness Change Delivery Release Project Plan for a specific AO2 Release (eg R3).

    This accountability involves close working with each Business Area in scope of the specific AO2 Release to understand their Business Readiness Project Plans, ensuring they will deliver the required business outcomes for both the Business Area and the AO2 Programme and aggregating the Business Area Project Plans into a single Business Readiness Release Project Plan and central Business Readiness Dashboard.

    A key element of the role will be assuring the maturity of each Release plan by business area, using Readiness Dashboards and Project Plans to do so via a maturity assessment model created by the AO2 Change Planning and Governance Team.

    Further should a Business Area need support and assistance in specific areas of concern that are hampering or impacting milestone and release timescales then the role holder will perform a facilitation role to bring key stakeholders together to understand the situation and create a mitigation or recovery plan as required, working with the Change Leads and Project Teams in the business area(s).

    Some of the more specific responsibilities :

    The role holder will collaborate with central and functional teams to ensure Business Readiness deliverables are planned, accurate and are being readied for on time delivery for their specific Release.

    The scope of Business Readiness includes all aspects of change to deliver a successful release including People training and knowledge transfer, Customer experience, supporting communications, processes and work instructions, legal and regulatory compliance requirements (GCO),third party supplier and partner readiness and any other critical go live requirements.

  • To ensure that the Business Readiness activities both centrally and locally owned are delivered against expected outcomes, and any gaps or deviations are understood and reported to the Change Planning and Governance Team.
  • To understand and assure business area roll out plans to support customer volumes through organic growth and also the customer migration strategy and plan.
  • To work closely and collaboratively with the Technical Release Manager for the specific release and any Technical Design Delivery experts within the Technical and Operational Readiness work streams.
  • To lead Business Readiness reviews and support the presentation and playbacks to WLT leadership within the area and back into the AO2 Programme.
  • To understand key risks and issues and report to Change Planning and Governance both by release and by business area.
  • To understand any resourcing requirements, risks and issues for key resources that are needed either centrally within the Programme and locally by business area to ensure a successful delivery for each release.
  • To understand, co-ordinate, help to shape and influence the delivery of each Release into the impacted business area, using Readiness Dashboard and Project Plan methodology to identify areas of concern.
  • To ensure that plans align to AO2 outcome based KPI’s and Customer Experience principles.
  • What we need from you :

  • To demonstrate a strong understanding of the key AO2 Programme deliverables, milestones and their relevance both centrally within the Programme and locally out to each business area.
  • To demonstrate sound knowledge of programme management and business change principles and skill in guiding and enabling the central and business area Change and Delivery Teams in their planning and delivery of change aligned to each AO2 release.
  • Knowledge of O2’s business, operations as well as products and propositions is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is key.
  • Experience and certification in Project methodologies (e.g. Prince2 or APM) advantageous.
  • Proficiency in key applications required for planning activities (e.g. Microsoft Project, Excel, etc).
  • Experience of change in agile delivery advantageous.
