Who we are looking for

An experienced Infrastructure Engineer who will be providing specialist support and lifecycle management for enterprise scale compute and storage platforms.

Systems operations are responsible for the lifecycle management of mission critical compute and storage platforms that underpin our highly demanding products and services.

You will support the direction and growth of a team that requires a breadth and depth of skills and experience, starting at entry level through to specialists.

Consideration for this role will be based on your technical ability, mentoring and soft skills. Successful applicants will be primarily focussed but not limited to, Storage or Virtualisation technologies.

We encourage both specialists and generalists to apply, technology is converging, as are skills. Broadening of skills is supported with development plans, training, and mentoring from technical leads.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy. Preferred skills and experience Tenacious and passionate engineer who takes ownership.

Effective time management, organisation and work prioritisation to meet deadlines whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Experience with Linux, preferably Red Hat derivatives and Windows system administration. Logical approach to solving problems under pressure and an active communicator on technical issues.

Experience in enterprise use of VMware vSphere suite, running on both traditional and hyper converged infrastructure. Fundamental understanding of Enterprise SAN, NAS and object storage services.

Strong understanding of IP and FC transit. Experience in public cloud is desirable. Collecting and visualising metric and log data using tools such as Splunk, Elastic or Prometheus.

Fluency in one or more of the following : Python, Go, Bash, PowerShell or Ansible. Read more Read less Main Responsibilities Providing a quality and personable support experience to the Company.

Understanding of Incident, Request, Change, Problem and Knowledge management (ITIL). Managing system data and tools to gain deep insight into the platforms for troubleshooting and pro-active problem analysis.

Recognising areas for continuous improvement through improved system monitoring and visibility, while automating the simple and simplifying the difficult.

Collaborating with other technology specialists.. Challenging what we do, identifying how to maximise our current technology investment and recognising how we can benefit from emerging technologies.

Performing system maintenance, upgrades and IT service continuity testing activity. Providing potential on-call coverage, which requires weekend in office presence and out of hours support, on a rota basis. Read more Read less
