The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is a world-leading multi-disciplinary science organisation, and we have an exciting opportunity for a proactive, results-oriented Fire Strategy and Design Manager to act as the Design and Technical fire safety systems expert for STFC Critical Fire and Emergency Safety Systems
The successful candidate will be accountable for
Supporting the development of policies, procedures and processes that ensure STFC Estates meets all relevant legislation, regulation and ensure that all fire safety management activities of STFC Estates are compliant with all relevant regulation and best practice.
Working closely and collaboratively with the STFC Fire Safety Advisors and SHE Group ensure STFC meets its current and future obligations under Fire safety and Building Safety laws.
Summary of Duties;
Ensure that all fire related documentation for Critical Fire and Emergency Safety Systems in STFC buildings and properties, including but not limited to fire system design drawings and maintenance records are up to date, complete and accessible to stakeholders.
Provide technical snagging of new or modified Critical Fire and Emergency Safety Systems projects ensuring compliance with STFC specifications.
Develop Estates team capability and competence in programming specified fire alarm systems configuration software including Kentec, DRAX, Advanced Electronics and graphical repeaters, to provide confidence in working with these systems..
Lead a specialist technical team to manage all aspects of Critical Fire and Emergency Safety System operation and maintenance across all sites ensuring services are prioritised and maintained at all times, and improved.
Monitor contractors for Critical Fire and Emergency Safety Systems maintenance, servicing and installation to ensure compliance and competence and continued operation of Critical Fire and Emergency Safety Systems at all times.
Designing, specifying and working with Estates teams to enable them to deliver improvements in Critical Fire and Emergency Safety Systems as identified through Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), current guidance, regulation change, fire safety policy, best practice and STFC standards.
To produce relevant reports in a compliant manner as required in support of business activities including SHE Group.
Support and establish close working relationships with site Fire Safety Advisors undertaking FRAs, addressing issues raised by FRAs and as appropriate reviews of Critical Fire and Emergency Safety Systems.

Member level (FIA, MIFireE or MIFSM, experience as BAFE nominated designer in fire alarm systems) as a minimum.
