We are looking for a Business Development Manager in our International Sales Team to drive growth of our Echologics portfolio of solutions in Europe.

Echologics manufactures technologies and provides services leveraging these technologies to address municipal water supply challenges in Europe.

We currently provide services to Private and Publicly owned water companies in countries including the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, and Italy, and are looking to expand our presence in these markets and into further markets across the region.

Reporting to the International Sales Director, the successful candidate will be expected to uncover and nurture sales opportunities, and work with channel partners including distributors, value-added resellers and other Mueller sales teammates to close develop and close sales opportunities.

Through a combination of technology evangelization, networking, and the use of solution selling methodologies to align our offerings with customer needs, the Business Development Manager will position Mueller Water Products as the leading provider of technology solutions for aging water infrastructure and non-revenue water challenges faced across the region.

This will be a home based position located in the UK or Denmark.

  • You will be a self-starter and with experience at all stages of the sales and business development process, from opportunity creation to close;
  • building the business network personally and then work towards managing channel partners and enterprise-wide relationships within large Municipal and Private Water Companies.

    In addition, you will establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base and network of channel partners across the territory.

    The position may involve up to 50% travel for meetings with clients within the sales territory.

    Responsibilities for the position include :

  • Overall responsibility for delivering on business development / sales strategies and targets within the assigned territory
  • Contribute to the formulation of the go-to-market strategy for the territory, including provision of specific market requirements within area of responsibility to integrate with the overall company strategy.
  • Management and development of existing client relationships with both end clients and channel partners. This includes management of several large strategic partners with their own sales teams spread across several countries.
  • Explore new markets and identify new clients across assigned territory
  • Collaboration with peers in the sales and marketing team to determine marketing needs to support lead generation and market positioning across the territory
  • Preparation of quotations, technical proposals, RFP and tender responses, presentations, etc.
  • Negotiating and closing sales / tenders, and provision of after-sales support services / follow up
  • Marketing support, such as attending conferences, presenting at webinars, drafting content for technical papers and case studies, etc.
  • Extensive travel throughout the assigned territory as required
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the company from time to time
  • Position Minimum Requirements :

  • An engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical and / or sales roles in the Water sector. Alternative qualification and experience will be considered
  • A solid track record of selling technology solutions into the Water or Utilities sector, with experience in the B2B environment supported by solid business acumen
  • Experience in bidding / proposal preparation and the ability to read and understand specifications, both from a technical and commercial perspective
  • Knowledge of key customers, markets and drivers relevant to the markets Echologics sells into, including the current market structure and key clients within the territory
  • Proven track record of exceeding established sales quotas
  • Language fluency in English and excellent working knowledge of MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Preferred Experience and Qualifications :

  • Trained and proficient in Solution Selling / Consultancy Sales methodologies
  • Technical experience in non-revenue water management, leak detection, pressure management, asset management, and pipeline condition assessment
  • An industry thought leader, with excellent social skills and the ability to initiate, inspire, drive and boost revenue growth and profitability within the market
  • Experience working in a matrix reporting structure across a diverse geography and set of cultures.
  • Language fluency in commonly used language in Europe such as French, German or Spanish

    Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday. Work hours will vary based on customer hours. Evening customer meetings may be required during sales travel.

    This position is salaried and subject commission / bonus scheme.
