  • Aon are currently recruiting a Claims Advocate to join our GBC team in Chelmsford. The Claims Advocate will be primarily responsible for the management of the strategy and process for the notification, agreement, collection and successful settlement of a portfolio of claims within a specialised book of business;
  • including first notification of loss, triage, issuance of processing instructions to the outsourcer, negotiation with markets, client updates, subsequent movements and liaison with placement teams, specialists, network offices, clients, underwriters and appointed experts (loss adjusters, lawyers etc.)

    About the Role

  • As a Claims Advocate some of your key responsibilities will involve;
  • Carefully manage the claims negotiation process with clients, underwriters and or their appointed legal representatives and or loss adjusters.
  • Facilitate the resolution of any outstanding coverage issues, and where necessary engage with Senior Advocate / Business Unit as required
  • Anticipate and present to clients the best settlement solution after consultation with Senior Advocate / Business Unit as required
  • Coordinate discussions and, where appropriate, meetings to ensure superior level of communication between the client, underwriter and their representatives concerning the proposed settlement.
  • Involve Senior Advocate as required.

  • Negotiate the payment and settlement of claims with clients and underwriters.
  • Where appropriate, supervise the accounting process via XBS to ensure prompt settlement.
  • Engage, monitor and manage third party providers appointed by clients, underwriters or Aon (e.g. loss adjusters, lawyers, surveyors, engineers etc.).
  • Work with other teams as necessary, to ensure that relevant information is shared as required and the appropriate actions are taken to meet clients’ needs.
  • Technical support for pre-renewal meetings, placing and renewal negotiations
  • Where appropriate escalate to the relevant individuals (Team Leader or Head of Advocacy for the relevant discipline) within the Claims team and business units information and updates where the claim is deemed contentious or there is a potential E&O in order to obtain advice and guidance to achieve a satisfactory conclusion for the client and for Aon.
  • Claim processing and outsourcer relationship
  • Issuance of timely, accurate and clear instructions to the outsourcer to enable claims to be processed
  • Resolution of queries and checking of quality to provide feedback and to participate in trending and data analysis
  • Achieve service delivery standards for a portfolio of accounts, working alongside Senior Claims Advocate. Act as the focal point of contact for clients and if applicable, co-
  • ordinate activities of a team of experts to provide the best possible service to the clients.

  • Conduct data analysis to establish the claims history for a particular client or business portfolio, and to identify trends and patterns in claims for a client or business segment.
  • Collect data on large and complex claims and report regularly and broadly to the business.
  • Development and maintenance of key contacts in the market, the network and clients
  • Ensure claims diary is maintained and / or reviewed and reports run as required.
  • Claim file maintenance
  • Establish and maintain claim files, ensure all claim information is accurate, complete and up-to-date and distribute information to appropriate individuals when required.
  • Review and quality check claim-related documentation at a pre-determined stage in the process to establish information accuracy.
  • Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.

  • Experience of end to end claims handling within the London Market
  • Experience of handling Marine Claims, specifically Cargo
  • Experience of using CLASS & ECF claims processing systems
  • Brokasure experience desirable
  • Experience of conducting claims file reviews
  • Strong knowledge of claims coverage issues and wordings
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
