The Faculty of Education is looking for an enthusiastic IT / AV Support Technician with good technical understanding and effective communication skills, to provide a comprehensive IT / AV Support service to support teaching and research activities within the Faculty.

The Faculty is one of the largest groups of educational researchers and teacher educators in the country and is a vibrant and very active academic community.

The IT / AV office provides the IT and AV services and infrastructure for the Faculty and, as such, is a key and highly visible service.

  • This varied role carries a range of duties including and not limited to; providing and maintaining equipment and consumables in teaching rooms;
  • providing reactive support for teaching rooms; assisting with audio productions and assisting with the equipment loan system.

    The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with knowledge and experience of AV / IT equipment.

    The ability to prioritise and effectively communicate with a wide range of people - including staff and students - alongside a flexible and approachable manner are all essential qualities.

    The role holder will be able to work as part of a team and resolve some basic technical issues, troubleshooting and providing first line fixes for desktop and mobile devices.

    Please note that there may be a requirement for some weekend and out of hours working as part of maintaining the service.
