LNW Works Delivery carries out work LNW route wide from Euston in the south, through the major cities of Birmingham and Manchester to just over the Scottish border -

the backbone of Britain. The LNW Works Delivery team plans, designs and delivers project covering as Track, Signalling, Civil Engineering, Buildings, Drainage & Off-

Track, Electrification and Plant within the route.

The team delivers an ever increasing work bank, currently over £170m per annum, which will increase to over £200m per annum in the next Control Period.

We achieve this through a mix of both direct delivery and contracted works.

Brief Description

You’ll play a crucial role in managing projects through various stages of the project lifecycle and assist in delivering a success to some of the most ambitious and innovative schemes the railway has ever seen.

The scope, scale and potential to make an impact is huge.

Please note there are three roles available.

About the role (External)

1.Deliver individual projects or parts of projects in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), applicable Network Rail company standards, current legislation and procedures including HMRI guidance where appropriate.

2.Provide a professional, consistent and effective project management service including the use of performance indicators and project reporting systems in accordance with Railway Group and Network Rail’s company standards and guidelines.

3.Manage the development and delivery of change projects in compliance with company processes and procedures.

4.Manage tactical change and risks within the project life cycle for allocated schemes.

5.Assist or lead in the provision of a safe working environment in the execution of managed work.

6.Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.

7.Manage the production of project management plans

8.Manage project budgets within agreed targets

9.Deliver regular progress reports on change projects, including relevant risks and issues, to the Programme Manager (Change).

10.Promote and monitor the use of efficiency improvement methods.

11.Disseminate lessons learnt.

Essential Criteria

  • A proven, relevant track record in project management
  • HNC / HND / Degree or an equivalent level of qualification
  • Experience of creating and maintaining project plans using project software
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality and environmental procedures
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence
  • Desirable Criteria

  • Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management or other professional body
  • A degree or equivalent
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt
