We currently seek to recruit a Material Engineer within Sealing and Polymer Product Business Unit based in Warrington.

ERIKS Sealing & Polymer is one of the UK’s largest sealing solutions providers and is part of a multinational group with over €20Bn turnover of which €300m is in sales of Seals Rubber and Plastic products.

This role will provide on-going day to day technical support both directly to customers and to other internal departments.

When this role is being undertaken competently, i.e. after induction and any role-specific training, the post holder will : -

  • Provide materials technology support to customers and external sales teams. This would include guidance in the areas of material selection and problem solving.
  • This would involve regular visits to customer locations.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and approvals are up-to-date and maintained.
  • Work in conjunction with the Design Team to specify required physical properties to optimise component performance and provide data for finite element analysis.
  • Work with design team to improve designs for maximum reliability, through a detailed understanding of geometry - material interaction.

  • Actively participate in international, multi-disciplinary, product development teams. Such work could involve formulating of conventional materials, supplier development, problem solving, failure analysis, compliance advice etc.
  • Work in conjunction with the UK colleagues on next generation materials in support of future product needs.
  • Provide guidance on manufacturing processes including the coordination of production trials and audits within our global supplier base.
  • This would include recommendations on process improvements, identification of opportunities to increase productivity and reduce cost.

    Control product quality and protect intellectual property by following a structured approach to technology transfer.

  • Complete raw materials product set-up and maintenance within ERIKS’ ERP system.
  • Alongside other materials engineers, conduct failure analyses, product complaint analyses, interpreting test results and preparation of test reports and product data sheets.
  • Represent the company through research publications, technical literature, conferences, universities, patents, suppliers, and monitoring outside research activities of group companies.
  • Follow appropriate laboratory practices, including testing and calibration of equipment, regular assessments etc.
  • Comply with QMS procedures, corporate policies, frameworks, legal obligations and Health & Safety requirements.
