Job Outline :

Member of a motivated, proactive Scrum Team, you will use the defined project management framework in partnership with the principles and practices of technical Agile project delivery to enable high quality software to be developed to meet agreed business priorities.

Working closely with the Product Owner, Scrum Master or Senior Business Analyst, you will assist in the creation and refinement of User Stories which form part of a larger initiative or a complete set of stories for a smaller / less complex change so as to ensure that value is driven to end users.

In addition, you will form part of a community of Business Analysts, sharing best practices, striving for continuous improvement, championing Agile values and promoting self organisation.

All information must be documented in accordance with PSL standards.

Principle Objectives & Responsibilities

  • Support the team to create and maintain Epics and User Stories, using a variety of story splitting techniques.
  • Full adherence to the agreed Change Delivery Framework so as to meet the requirements and expectations of SMCR regulatory requirements, with any exceptions approved solely by the Head of Change Delivery
  • Support the Product Owner or Senior Business Anlayst in facilitating workshops for product backlog creation
  • Ability to clearly communicating the business needs and value to the Scrum Team.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with stakeholders from around the business
  • Define clear Acceptance Criteria per User Story in partnership with the Scrum Team and Product Owner
  • Support in the delivery of a User Story to the Definition of Done wherever required.
  • Assist with, and volunteer to facilitate, Scrum ceremonies and events
  • Ensure User Stories allocated to you are refined in time to ensure the Product Pipeline is consistently providing enough work for the Scrum Team
  • Responsible for identifying and documenting any changes to operational / business processes and documentation.
  • Consult with relevant internal / external parties, service providers and suppliers as required.
  • Adhere to PSL’s standards and procedures in support of analysis activity.
  • Embrace all challenges and strive to improve in your area of expertise.
  • Provide both verbal and written updates to management on the progress of work.
  • Work through all aspects of the development cycle as well as contributing to best practice and high quality.
  • Embrace and drive ownership of personal objectives doing everything you can to achieve them.
  • Promote effective and consistent communication at all times both within your Scrum Team and cross-departmental.
  • Demonstrate high standards of personal performance.
  • Prepare for and participate in formal appraisals which are delivered in line with current appraisal frameworks.
  • When required, dependent upon the size of the project and / or available resources elsewhere, it may be necessary to perform a wider remit in order to ensure the project and the wider portfolio progresses.
  • Flexibility towards getting the job done’ is a key aspect of the role.

  • All analysis is implemented in accordance with the agreed Change Delivery Framework and managed as per agreed processes.
  • All requirements / solutions are documented in accordance with the agreed standards.
  • Effective working relationships with business representatives, internal and external, on system and project issues.
  • Effective working relationships with all IT Development teams for project and small change delivery.
  • All requested information is provided actually and in a timely fashion.
  • Efficiency measures to be delivered as per targets agreed with Line Manager

  • More than 4 years’ experience working as a Business Analyst in a professional IT environment or in a equivalent role in a change delivery context
  • Strives to work with and contribute to existing analysis processes.
  • Demonstrates competency in Change Delivery skills.
  • Experience of and involvement in the entire project lifecycle and using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Able to communicate effectively and accurately in a diplomatic manner
  • Workshop facilitation skills for requirements gathering analysis.
  • Able to facilitate workshops for product backlog creation
  • Business Process mapping, analysis, definition of workarounds etc.
  • Demonstrates a variety of techniques to create, refine, split and map User Stories
  • Ability to identify, articulate and communicate value
  • Agile environment experience & understanding
  • Excellent organisation, personal and project planning skills.
  • Ability to build & maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to deliver.
  • Good team player, also able to work independently.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to quality and a professional approach to work.
  • Logical and analytical mind-set.
  • Detailed knowledge of how to effectively use Microsoft office packages, including Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, Outlook

  • Experience of creating UML design documentation, more specifically use case scenarios and process modelling.
