It’s an exciting time to join our growing Pathology team in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. We are looking for a Principal Pathologist to join this busy team
This role is to perform the examination and appraisal of histological tissue sections from safety evaluation studies in a variety of species, performed under GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), for the purpose of registration with one or more regulatory bodies.
As a Principal Pathologist at Envigo your main responsibilities will be :
Histopathological evaluation of tissue sections by light microscopy and recording of relevant changes on the computer database.
Experience and expertise with all commonly used laboratory species and routine study types and familiarity with background and age-
related changes in rodents and non-rodents.
Preparation of macroscopic pathology and histopathology summaries following the templates.
Ensure all tasks are conducted in accordance with Good Laboratory practice, standard Operating Procedures and study protocols to scientific standards acceptable to the head of Pathology.
Attending post mortems as per rota.
Perform peer reviews of studies
Involvement in process improvement, making presentations to other departments, mentoring histology and necropsy technicians.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the team, to ensure maintenance of scientific quality and participate in process improvements.
Participate in and contribute to slide club to increase scientific quality in department.
Mentor and help junior members of the department.
Promote and maintain scientific integrity both within Envigo and in the wider community by the production and delivery of scientific papers, the undertaking of research projects and the attendance of meetings.
Management of a team of pathologists, guiding and mentoring members of the team
Providing scientific supervision for technical and work-related aspects of study design.
Providing support and mentoring team leaders as managers.
Performing appraisals of direct reports.
Communicate with internal customers and external customers to gather data for study and communicate findings and discuss peer review.
Address issues of interpretation on studies, provide guidance and support to junior pathologists during interactions with clients over difficult studies
Develop effective working relationships with other departments
The skills and experience we’re looking for are :
Veterinary degree plus qualification in pathology
Experience in toxicological pathology, will have worked in pharmaceutical company or CRO
