Job Description Renishaw’s Encoder Product Division (EPD) wants to recruit a Senior Systems Engineer to help meet Renishaw’s commitment to the highest levels of quality in our International market.
The role is part of a team of engineers responsible for understanding, defining and improving our current and future products and test systems.
Responsibilities Working with EPD’s Current Products support team to investigate and propose opportunities for equipment improvements for capacity and cost of quality improvements Develop and understanding of encoders and how they work, with a view to providing support to key projects across the business Design, development and validation of improvements to our current product’s test equipment Liaise with new product development teams to receive and review new equipment, and understand the intent behind the processes Liaise with new product development teams to define and control the performance of encoder systems, including the underlying production systems that ensure the quality of our products Key requirements Ideally degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as electronics design, mechanical engineering, mechatronics An inquisitive mind with an aptitude for investigation, and a strong sense of ownership throughout the project lifecycle Fault finding skills involving electromechanical systems Desirable requirements Understanding and experience in the use of statistics in relation to production processes Experience using National Instruments LabVIEW Ability to lead and develop other engineers and technicians Experience of analogue and digital electronics test for medium to high volume manufacture Experience of motion control systems Person specification This role will require the successful candidate to be a clear thinker and have excellent attention to detail and sound judgement based on experience.
The role requires working with other engineers and technicians where the candidate will be in a leading role. The successful candidate will be capable of taking on projects with minimal background information, building up requirements through discussions with stakeholders at all technical and commercial levels, liaising with engineers from several disciplines, including electronic, mechanical, optical and manufacturing teams.
The candidate will also be practical and flexible as the role requires the ability to work in amongst production areas with access to equipment that needs to fit in with production requirements.
