A lawyer with circa 7 years post qualification experience in a similar role. Responsible for providing high-level legal advice and assistance to the UK & Ireland business and UK based Group or centralised functions and act as subject expert in relevant areas of law.

As the Senior Legal Advisor, you will draft, review and advise on complex, high risk and high value or strategically important commercial contracts for the tour operator, retail, cruise, airline and UK based Group or centralised functions

You will provide strategic legal guidance to key stakeholders within operational units in the UK & Ireland business and ensure that you continue to develop your knowledge and expertise, taking primary ownership for a range of commercial contracts and negotiations.

You will have line management responsibility for junior lawyers in the team.

You will be responsible for the provision of expert advice on package travel legislation and any connected regime of financial protection

As Senior Legal Advisor, your accountabilities include developing and updating precedents, procedures, policies and checklists to share best practice on legal matters across the business.

Along with thorough knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework, you will support the business by providing advice on regulatory matters.

You will be responsible for drafting, revising and advising on customer documentation, booking conditions, the A to Z, cruise conditions of carriage, flight conditions of carriage and website terms and conditions.

The role will require you to attend and / or minute senior management meetings as required.

You will be responsible for investigating and responding to enquiries from the Advertising Standards Authority alleging breach of the CAP Code and undertake research on legal issues and providing guidance and advice on new areas of law for the business as required.

You will be an asset to the wider team, assisting the Senior Counsel UK & I and One Aviation and General Counsel Northern Region in providing advice and support to the business on large projects and in addition to line management responsibility assist the Senior Counsel UK & I and One Aviation with the training, development and coaching of team members.

As Senior Legal Advisor you will be providing advice and assistance on competition law, anti-bribery and corruption and consumer protection law and undertake such other tasks and provide such other assistance as the Senior Counsel UK & I and One Aviation and General Counsel may require.

Key skills

Qualified solicitor with circa 7 years PQE

  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision using own initiative and plan and organise own workload
  • Ability to research, interpret and provide advice on complex or new areas of law
  • Knowledge

    Excellent knowledge and experience in the following areas :

  • commercial, consumer protection, marketing and data protection law
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to construct a coherent argument
  • Ability to research in depth both legal and commercial / operational issues
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships both internally and externally and act as an ambassador for the business with key contacts
