Why this role matters

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the scope of the delivery is understood and that the technical solution meets the business need, so that comprehensive plans are built, managed and achieved.

This role is accountable from the business scoping of a technical deliverable or set of deliverables through to enablement of technical benefits realisation, covering the functional and non-

functional requirements.

The deliverables would be across a set of projects or programmes and the complexity would range from small to medium sized deliveries or a single large technical delivery, including producing and agreeing the technical delivery plan, managing the costs against forecast and working with peers to enable and maintain the right resource levels for the delivery.

Aligning the deliveries to the Enterprise Architecture and Business strategy to delivery the best solution for BT and its customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Build, own and manage the E2E technical delivery plan which incorporates plans from each dependent engineering team and or partners / suppliers.
  • Take ownership of technical delivery problems, identify what needs to happen and ensure all parties who are impacted or who can help to address the problem are engaged in a timely fashion to reach a solution.
  • Ensure all impacted teams understand delivery plans
  • Manage and communicate forecast / spend through the delivery against committed finance figures for the technical deliveries
  • Make / implement recommendations for improvements to processes and technical delivery standards.
  • Agree and manage project RACI and RAID
  • Run a weekly project status forum with all stakeholders. RAID / finances / status / resources
  • Manage / determine escalation process for project milestones. Provide options on recovery of the technical delivery as well as other options including re-planning / rescheduling.
  • Make recommendations on the affordability of technical delivery costs and where appropriate challenge the costs / solution.
  • In addition, drive the discussion with stakeholders on requirements / affordability and make decisions around release scoping with stakeholders.

  • Story-telling with data : strong skills in building and communicating the case for change, drawing on data, analytical and presentation techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business and technology audiences
  • Technology and Business acumen : Knowledgeable in technology and business strategies and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.
  • g. business KPIs, business cases)

  • Project and Delivery Management : experience and strong proactive skills in setting up, progressing and managing the delivery of business requirements with IT solutions through to live.
  • Proactive issues and risk resolution : managing the correct accountable resources to resolve / mitigate.
  • Technical system knowledge and make up : Experience in delivering Big Data and Cloud technical solutions is key for the first set of projects to be delivery managed by this role.
  • In order to be able to join up and what is to be delivery managed and challenged to deliver successfully.

  • Degree qualified preferred
  • Experience you would be expected to have

    Mandatory

  • Programme, Project and Delivery Management of Data, Big Data and Cloud IT Solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • RAID And RACI production and management
  • Experience of delivering IT Solutions using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to translate simply between business and technology requirements through to explaining what is being delivered and address / manage any challenges to those deliveries.
  • High level systems / app technical understanding, specifically around Data (inc Big Data and Analytics), Digital, Cloud and Integration engineering high level technical knowledge
  • Preferred :

  • Experienced accredited Scrum Master
  • Human Centred Design approaches
  • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Facilitation experience, driving workshops and meetings to drive to a decision or resolution.
  • GDPR and IT Security awareness, adherence and management.
