An exciting opportunity for a Category Manager to join the Audio team across 2 dynamic and varied areas within the world of Home Audio, Soundbars & Smart Sound

The audio category is a very interesting & ever changing category with a mixture of very well know household brands, specialist brands & our OEM range.

The category will provide exposure to a variety of trading dynamics including the opportunities in the smaller box categories, a very diverse customer base, high market share, and an opportunity to engage with Online and Marketing teams to drive best in class customer shopping experiences.

The Category Manager will be responsible for implementation and delivery of the category plans across our supply base including achieving sales, margin and stock budgets.

As a Category manager you will be required to maximise end to end profitability by managing suppliers efficiently and develop market leading promotional activity to drive sales and competitiveness whilst supporting effective stock management.

Ensuring that the category is always striving for a market leading range and multichannel execution that delivers to our customer needs.

You will :

  • Establish credible relationships with global brands including Bose, Sony, LG & Panasonic to ensure the best range, cost, and go to market execution for our customers.
  • Design, develop and bring to market a range of own brand products creating a range compelling architecture across own brand and licenced brands
  • Be aware of market activity and continually using this information to ensure that the category is performing
  • Work side by side with the merchandisers to ensure all metrics are hit across sales and stock
  • Develop innovative marketing plans to secure supplier investment so as to bring technological developments to life, supporting category growth
  • Provide feedback and challenge on the commercial processes to ensure that we continually make improvements to better deliver for our customers
  • Contribute to projects within the Commercial team and the wider Dixons Retail Group
  • You will have :

  • Good numerical and analytical skills to be capable of monitoring market changes, competitor prices and products, and past sales patterns to forecast demand
  • Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills to enable successful negotiations with suppliers
  • Precise judgment and strong decision-making skills to enable the right actions for the category
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting within senior forums
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
