We are seeking experienced and non experienced Support Workers (24 hours per week) for our home in Shrewsbury.
About the role
as well as being good at listening and watching body language to see if you are doing things right.
You will play a key part in assisting the guys we support to live as independently as possible. You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them be active members of their local community.
Activities might include seeing families, watching nature programmes, playing and listening to music, using a tablet, cycling, swimming, visiting day centres, singing and dancing, crafts, shopping and helping around the house.
There'll always be lots of banter involved and you'll be having lots of fun in the process!
Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, they require help with intimate personal care including washing.
We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service.
You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends & bank holidays.

What we need from you
Firstly, you don’t need experience to become a Support Worker but it’s not easy. The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no 2 days are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact is incredibly inspiring and something you'll never forget.
The type of person who makes a great support worker at MacIntyre, is someone who is an excellent listener, is empathetic to another persons needs and will eventually be able to just know’ what may or may not be good for the person they are supporting.
As long as you have the passion and drive to want to make a real difference, we’ll teach you the rest. With your key attributes and our training, together we can deliver the best possible support.
It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive service vehicles.
