Job Purpose Jagex is looking for a Design Director to help us undertake the exciting challenge of building a brand new, next-gen massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

You will be responsible for forming and leading a team of designers to define the gameplay of a next-gen MMORPG. You are responsible for defining, executing, and maintaining a coherent design strategy that practically delivers the creative vision as outlined and held by the Creative Director.

This role is primarily focused on the pragmatic interpretation of requirements needed to execute the Creative Director’s vision together with the design team.

You Will

  • Work extremely closely with the Creative Director (Vision Holder) to establish a design strategy that practically and successfully executes the creative vision
  • Concisely and clearly communicate upwards to EPs, Senior Directors, VP’s, and Exec
  • Define best practices and pipelines with the team in all areas of design including outsourcing
  • Build and lead a world-class team of game designer leaders through effective mentoring, coaching, feedback, and sponsorship.
  • Create team growth plans and collaborates with recruitment partners to deliver on it
  • You are

  • You have

  • Professional experience shipping a multiplayer game as a Lead Systems Designer
  • Professional experience building and leading effective design teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional experience in prototyping and planning new titles at the formative Ideation stage
  • Professional experience developing a live Game as a Service title
  • In-depth knowledge of the MMORPG industry, the games, and the latest trends
  • Even better if you have :

  • Experience with developing games in UE4
  • Experience designing systems for MMORPG game(s).
  • Experience with multiplatform game development
  • Specific experience in working with mobile MMO titles
  • Experience with MMORPG monetization models
