Requirement for a Practitioner Quantity Surveyor to work closely with the CTO and Supply Chain to develop effective commercial and contractual strategies.

You will join a large engineering company providing services in the nuclear industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out assessments of overall commercial and contractual health and supplier resourcing capability.
  • Delivery of the procurement of consultant, supply chain and contracting services.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain to ensure that corporate strategy, policy and procedures are implemented by projects
  • Supporting the Project Manager in the process of challenge of estimates and development of the business cases.
  • Ensure effective project governance procedures are in place.
  • Processes, reviews and recommends valuations for projects.
  • Carrying out audits on suppliers should be required.
  • Attending commercial meetings and providing input on contractual or commercial issues.
  • Producing monthly reports to the Project Manager on project costs.
  • Assessment of any applicable contractual incentive mechanisms.
  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of HNC / HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Professional membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. RICS). MACostE desirable.
  • Previous experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Significant experience in a Quantity Surveying Environment or relevant commercial / procurement experience.
  • Understanding of commercial contracting strategies within an engineering environment.
  • Well versed in modern commercial management techniques within complex, multi-functional organisations or project environments.
  • Working knowledge of the following :
  • Relevant Health and Safety Legislation
  • Current CDM Regulations
  • Pre post contract commercial
  • Commercial, contractual and financial project drivers
  • Delivery techniques in regulated markets
  • Analytical bias with the ability to provide solutions to issues.
  • Strong awareness of the level of interaction required with the project team function to support the successful delivery of projects.
